2nd and 3rd Class finished their Genius Hour projects and presented them to each other and to other classes in the school. To say I was impressed would be an understatement. They worked so hard on them over the last six weeks, and it was brilliant to see the final products. It was also a joy to watch them light up as they spoke about topics that were of interest to them.
2nd and 3rd class are having great fun playing basketball with Mark every Friday in the Complex.
Bricks4Kids came in and did a lego workshop with 2nd and 3rd class on Tuesday. They had a lot of fun making windmills and a variety of pictures.

Look at the beautiful art pieces created by 2nd and 3rd class using all natural materials. We are learning about Autumn and what happens during this season in Geography and in Irish.
2nd and 3rd Class have gotten off to a flying start this year. They are learning lots and having fun while doing so. In Science we learned about the bones in our body so in groups, they formed their own version of a skeleton.
3rd and 4th class played a soccer match against each other this afternoon. Both teams played extremely well and it was a very entertaining and competitive match. There were many shots on target throughout the game, with all the goalies making great saves.
3rd class created art using natural objects found in the area. They then built homes for various animals - again using items from our outdoor environment. They were super creative and demonstrated excellent team skills whilst working together.
3rd and 4th class took part in a hurling blitz today in Erins Own. We entered two teams and we played against teams from Kinsale and Glenville. We were so lucky with the weather and we had a brilliant day out. Everyone played really well and they did the school proud. Big thank you to Mr Rea for providing medals for all the children and another big thank you to Eghosa and Luke from 6th class for coming along to referee the matches.
3rd Class had lots of fun on their school tour at Cuskinny Adventure Centre last week. They got to do a Forest Maze, a Squirrel Trail, Grass Sledging and Bushcraft.
3rd Class has so much fun today making a Speed RoboCar and a Mosaic. Big thank you to Bricks4Kidz.
3rd Class had a ball yesterday at an Athletics Blitz in Cobh. They even got to meet Cork hero Sonia O Sullivan. Thank you to Cork Sports Partnership and Trevor (TrainwithTrevor) for organising such a brilliant day out.
3rd class completed a maths trail, measuring the length of various things around the school. The equipment they used depended on what they were measuring eg. trundle wheel to measure the length of the yard, a metre stick to measure the length of the corridor and a ruler to measure the length of their books and copies.
3rd Class revised their knowledge of 2D and 3D shapes by drawing them on the yard. A lot of fun was had by all!
2nd class and 3rd class came together to take part in a Tráth na gCeist (quiz) for Seachtain na Gaeilge. Each team had a mix of 2nd and 3rd class pupils with Ms Morgan on the mic and Ms Crowley on the scoreboard! Congratulations to our winners!!
3rd Class learned all about Jan Vermeer and they did a wonderful job recreating his famous painting "The Girl with the Pearl Earring"..
3rd Class created their own Olympic skiers and had great fun racing each other down the 'slopes'.
3rd Class worked on a project of their choice for six weeks. They could research/make/design/learn about anything they were passionate about. One hour every Tuesday was dedicated to this project but as you will see from the video below, many hours at home also went into creating these projects. I'm so proud of the work each student put in. It was a joy to watch them working so enthusiastically over the past six weeks. Well done everyone!
